The story behind the project
A Place They Hope to Call Home One Day
This individually designed home in Eastern Slovakia was built as an additional storey on top of an existing basement structure. As most of the lower structure is below ground level, it was constructed using conventional masonry. We designed and manufactured the upper floor specifically to meet the owners’ requirements, while also taking into account the characteristics of the plot and its location by the water.
The owners originally considered a timber-frame house but ultimately chose our ceramic construction system. After their first extended stay in the new home, they are very happy with their decision and can clearly feel the difference compared with their second holiday home, which was built using timber-frame construction.
As we are doing all the finishing work ourselves, it is taking us a little longer to complete everything. This summer, we stayed in the house for a full month for the first time to really try it out, and everything was perfect. We had originally planned to build a timber-frame house, but in the end we decided to go with your ceramic system — and we have no regrets. We also built a second holiday home next to it using timber-frame construction, and there is a noticeable difference. I am a member of several online construction groups, and whenever someone asks what building system or material we would recommend, I always recommend you. So I hope some of those people eventually get in touch with you. We are very happy to finally have a place where we can spend our weekends and holidays, and we are planning to move there permanently when we retire. Take care, and best wishes to all of you. I hope everything is going well. Č. M.
